Guide to Legally Buying Marijuana in Nevada on July 1

Vegas Recreational Dispensary

Nevada is expecting hordes of visitors from neighboring states like Arizona, Utah, California and Idaho to purchase recreational marijuana as sales begin July 1. Two Nevada-Utah border towns are considering allowing recreational sales: West Wendover and Mesquite. Political leaders believe it could lead to an economic boom for the communities.

Regardless of where visitors are from, and as long as they are of age, they can purchase recreational marijuana in Nevada, reports Fox 13 Now. Whatever is purchased, however, cannot be transported across state lines. It will be legal to purchase up to 1-ounce of usable marijuana for anyone 21 or older.

So far, 82 recreational marijuana establishments are approved to make sales. The Nevada Department of Taxation’s website will publish those dispensaries. It is only legal to purchase from an approved and state-licensed recreational marijuana business. The state will publish a list of the approved businesses.

Recreational marijuana may not be smoked anywhere in public nor in casinos.

For Utah residents afraid of being pulled over at the state border, Keith Squires, Commissioner of the Utah Department of Public Safety, says there won’t be troopers waiting at the state border. If you are impaired, however, you may be pulled over for impaired driving, regardless of the substance.

For Arizona residents, the Department of Public Safety isn’t commenting on the issue.
