At $2 per Gram, Oregon Has the Lowest Marijuana Prices in America

Marijuana Prices

One year ago, marijuana prices per pound in Oregon ranged from $1,000 to $3,000. Now prices are averaging around $800 per pound, and there have even been reports of a pound selling for as low as $250. Grams often range as low as $2 – $6 in Oregon.

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC), which regulates the state’s marijuana industry, has indefinitely put a hold on approving any further applications for marijuana cultivators, reports The News-Review. The state currently has about 2,000 growers.

Veronica Leon of La Mota dispensary said, “We love it. We’re getting so much more business, it’s just making a bigger selection and making it to where there’s enough for everybody. Why would you have such high prices if there’s so much for everybody? It shouldn’t be a struggle; it should be a community thing, very accessible. The outcome should be where there’s money and taxes going to the community all the way. Harvest is coming up, and we’re getting all these cheap prices. Usually, this is the time of year when we’re dry, like we have nothing but $15 grams.”

With the new limit on cultivator permits, some partnerships between cultivators and dispensaries are forming. This helps them control the pricing so that everyone benefits. Leon said, “That’s exactly what La Mota is doing. They partnered with two producers. That might change the outcome of how much stuff is being produced.” She also noted that the market continues to grow and says that there won’t ever be enough flower grown.

Oregon has the lowest prices on marijuana flower in the country, followed closely by Colorado and California.
