3 Cannabis Bills Introduced to the Indiana Legislature

Three bills are hoping to pass the Indiana Legislature that would legalize industrial hemp and CBD oil. These bills are among 300 that have been heard this session.

Current Indiana law only allows those studying industrial hemp to grow it, according to Indy Star. Passage of proposed legislation would permit farmers to grow the plant large-scale.

Two bills regarding CBD oil are also pending: House Bill 1214 and Senate Bill 52.

All three of these bills swap chambers and require committee hearings to continue their forward progression.

Onto medical marijuana. A unanimous vote in the House will initiate a study regarding medical marijuana. Not all lawmakers are happy with this resolution as some say it’s still too restricted. Representative Lucas’ bill didn’t get a hearing, but committing to a study does show open mindedness regarding the subject.
